Do i need to buy anything in order to get my slim ps2 to play backups?

Hopefully i dont, anyways with this aside is there a simple step by step guide to get the console to play the backups without any need of modchips or swap disks?

Hellraiser was a little vague with his awnser of "no". There are very many ways to boot backups without a swapdisk. Problem is you will initialy need a various product that you will have to pay for.

    examples

exploit - you will need action replay max
usbadvance - boot backups from usb drive
hdloader - boot backups from a hard drive
cogswap - boot backups from an original ps2 game

the best recommendation is probably to purchase yourself Swap Magic boot discs for around $30.00 bucks then with the proper steps with that you can boot backups and homebrew witch will allow you to access any of the above name methods, no longer needing to purchase anything further, considering you have such items like a memory card, cd-r's, and maybe a pendrive.
