I have FMCB 1.8, ESR beta 9b, and a fat SCPH-39001. After launching the CDVD, it flashes the following colors: Red,blue, purple, green, grey, and cyan. I might have missed one or two as it goes by quite fast. After that God Hand loads up fine, except everything is black and white and the screen is flickering constantly. I followed the sticky verbatim in burning it. Sorry if I forget anything, I'm running off of a huge lack of sleep.

Sounds like you're using a PAL rip on an NTSC console or vice versa. You need the version native to your area. NTSC = US/Canada, PAL = Europe.

Even so, the only thing that causes a monochrome picture with flickers is a mismatch of the TV standards while using a composite signal cable. (The crap cable that comes with each console from Sony and gives horrible picture quality. Thus the first thing each customer should replace...)

Possibly that game auto-switches to the wrong video mode for some odd reason, when run on your setup.

One way to force it to use the correct mode would be to run the homebrew program "GS Modeselector" (aka: GSM), and tell it to enforce standard NTSC mode before exiting from it, and then proceeding to start the game through ESR. The game will then be using physical NTSC mode even when it 'thinks' it has switched to PAL.

Btw: Like TnA already asked, please specify the product code of the game disc, so others can test this. That code is identified by the main program file in the disc image. Normally it is a file whose name starts with "SCES", "SLES", "SCUS" or "SLUS" followed by something like "_xxx.xx" where each 'x' is a numeric digit.

    Best regards: dlanor

GSM was the answer to my problem. I cannot thank you enough; God Hand is one of my favorite games. If you still want my product code, I will give it to you. Thank you again.

I'm glad it worked out for you.

We do want to see the product code, to check if we can repeat this problem with that game and come to understand what happened better.

    Best regards: dlanor
