Huh, how weird. I always had trouble with God of War II freezing at this one section midway through the game using ESR 9b. I gave up thinking that my laser might have just been giving (even though other DL games seemed to work perfectly fine).
I used ESR 9a as the above poster and, well, now it gets past the area with not even so much as a hitch. Before, with ESR 9b, the music would skip, some areas/textures would flat out not load, and would lead to the eventual freeze.
Edit: Speaking of... what is this CAT5E method of networking games? I'm afraid that I'll need an alternative soon and I've never heard of this method.

Well, for most cases r9b will work better than r9a, but whenever any change is made in how this sort of program implements some details it can break compatibility with some games, even if the general effect for most games is positive. That is why ffgriever himself has stated that only the GUI combines all of the positive effects, as you can choose between some of the different methods with this. The simple non-GUI elf versions are all more limited in their flexibility. (But for all normal cases I still prefer the r9b 'dvdv direct' elf.)

noetikos was obviously referring to "Open PS2 Loader" (aka: OPL) which you should have noticed already, since it has a subforum right next to this one for ESR.
OPL allows games to be run from three different media (so far):
Internal IDE HDD: Uses same installed game method as for HDLoader
External USB drives: Uses same installed game method as for USBAdvance
SMB fileshare over LAN: Uses same installed game method as for USBAdvance
The current beta versions have extended the OPL specs considerably, including the ability to use normal ISO files for both the USB and SMB cores, as an alternative and parallel to the older USBAdvance method of installing games.
This means that I can now play games from the backup ISO collection I have stored on one of my PCs, with currently over 200 games installed that way, all of which are presented in the OPL game list for launching without any physical disc manipulation at all.

Thanks for the great response. I don't want to hijack the thread but just a few quick questions. Based on the current "beta revisions" are you referring to revision 0.7? If so, does this mean I can just load up ISOs on an internal PC HDD through a crossover CAT5E cable to my PS2?
Edit: Never mind; dlanor thankfully replied on a previous thread of mine (located here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthre...722#post493722). Thank you.
