I just recently installed FMCB and have been wanting to play my Tales of the Abyss Japanese version. I got it imported a couple of years ago and never got around to getting swap magic, then I heard of FMCB so ya. I installed FMCB with mgs3 on my fat ps2 with noobie pack. I don't know what model it is, I got it second hand from an old classmate back in 07. I've backed it up using Imgburn and dvd decrypter and burned at x1,x2,x4,x8 on both programs. Used memorx and sony dvd-r. I probably burned through about 12 dvds by now and haven't gotten it to work. I have FMCB is v1.8, Esr beta9b.

and get a network adapter and Hard drive you could be playing with OPL (Open PS2 Loader)

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred

Well can your PS2 run official games especially DVD9 games if not maybe laser going or dirty
If yes get a set of verbatim DVD-R they work best but Sony DVD should work
and you should use DVDdycrter or ImgBurn to make and burn backups this is free ware and works best for PS2

Yea OPL can run games from USB but FMV's are skippy with most games

Hmm, Im not sure if it can play dvd9 games, I'm pretty sure I don't have any. I havn't really bought ps2 games for a while since I got my ps3. I don't have a problem play my original games like Tales of the Abyss US ver, kingdom hearts1-2. Should I give cleaning my laser a try. And I'll see if I can get my hands on some verbatim Dvd-r this weekend. Ya I have been using DVDdycrter andImgBurn

Well I guess my only shot is getting verbatim DVD-R and cleaning the laser then. If I were to replace the laser as a last resort, would it be okay if I use a KHS-400C laser? the laser on my ps2 has KHS-400B labeled on it, would it make a difference?
