I'm trying to execute the patch and I've got both the US iso and the Japanese iso, but when I click on the program, a DOS window shows for a second and then disappears, and then nothing happens...am I doing something wrong?
Check the filenames for double extensions (uncheck the "hide extensions for known files types" in folder options/view) and make sure the isos are named "ff12us.iso" and "ff12zj.iso" (not ff12zjs nor ff12izjs).
You. Are. AWESOME! :-)
Ok but now when I run the program, I get an error....something about APPCRASH after it gets to Execute type_05...
Rather obscure, but if you cast Dispel on a reserve party member, the message is "(party member) fades from (buff)." If there's another version of the patch to be released, could it be changed to something like "(party member) loses the effect of (buff)."
Edit: The message only appears if just ONE buff was removed - there's another one for multiple buffs removed, and that one is worded correctly. That makes this error even more obscure...

Hehe, thought I've corrected all of these. For some messages, the variable order has been changed. Unfortunately, in most of the cases these are stack variables and there "pop" command is used to fetch them, which takes them all one after another. I'll change that message.
To be fair, who casts Dispel on a reserve party member? Particularly one with a single buff? The only reason I did it was to remove Regen prior to controlling the PRNG for stuff.

I'm having trouble getting the patch to work properly using the patcher. I followed the directions in the readme file. I put the US ISO and the ZJS ISO together in a folder, along with the patcher and the files included with it. I named the files exactly the way they are named in the readme file, and ran the patcher. It seemed to be working, lots of stuff was coming up in the little black window. It created a new ISO file. I mounted this file in Daemon tools, and ran it using PCSX2. The initial menus were in English, but once I started into the game all the text looked like a mixture of Japanese characters with other random things. Here are some screenshots.
If there were steps I should have followed that weren't in the readme file, I likely missed them. I did look over the OP's first post for any information, but didn't find anything. Also read over a few posts in the thread, but as it is over 100 pages long I did not go through each one. Any helps is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Was the bin directory in place? Looks like the font (and maybe something more) was not replaced at all. Try to skip daemon tools and use the iso directly. What it the size of the output iso? Could post the md5sum of the iso?

I actually have not been able to get PCSX2 to run the ISO files. I've tried a few of the drive plugins and couldn't get it to work. I'll keep trying other things and researching.
The output ISO is 3.89 GB
I'm not sure what md5sum is, and how to obtain that information.
**Edit** I believe I may have found the problem. When I created the image of my FFXII disc, it was created as .mdf file. I changed the extension to .iso, and it worked in the emulator so I figured it must be fine. I used that .iso file for creating the english-patched ZJS file. During the patching process, the black box kept saying "Not present in US" and at first I thought that must be normal. As you know, the game did not work correctly.
After my posts here, I started thinking maybe if I create the image as .iso to begin with, it might work. I did that, and am patching it now. Instead of saying "Not present in US" it is saying "Executing type_1c" and so on.
When I finished typing the above, the patching process completed and I tested the game. It's working properly (and while mounted in Daemon tools, just fyi).
Thanks again for your hard work and your response to my issue.

There is a fully working downloadable ISO for this game on emuparadise. It's the complete Zodiac Job System FF12 and it's all in English. I've been playing it for the past week.
Appreciate all the work you're doing on this though
