since i need two isos (int and another version with different language), will this work with the special edition/s of ffxii?
AFAIK, there is nothing special in the special edition of ff12 (at least when it comes to the dvd disc itself - it's exact same). If I'm not mistaken, it should work.
Hi, just a quick question for ya. When can we expect the option to undub the voices? I read in another forum...must of been the ngemu forums..that you said it would be possible with the patch to use Japanese voices with all English text. I understand I would need to buy the JP regular version of FF12, so I would own 3 different versions. I really look forward to this, since I don't enjoy the Eng voice all that much, lol.
Ffgriever actually stated earlier in this topic that he had made such version and it wasn't that hard. I don't think he actually ever released it though. I asked about this subject myself but one of the mods went apeshit, threatened to ban me and removed all my messages regarding the subject <3

Unfortunately, it wasn't working as expected. You can't just copy the sounds, as there will be missing a whole big parts of dialog. You could just copy entire first section from japanese game, but it has at least two issues (will cause a lot of problems with PAL versions and the text won't appear at right times). Then you could align the text, but it's a manual work, which would take some time to do. I have written a code, that tries to replace the parts in the script in first section that are responsible for the dialog playback. It works fine most of the time, but in some files causes a freeze in the game. It's most likely because I didn't really crack the script, but I'm just using some known values.
So, to sum it up. It wasn't as good as I thought it was. I was simply too optimistic and reported a success too early. Fixing the issues and making it work with all the versions would require a lot of additional work, which I don't really feel like doing (mostly because I find the english dub much better than japanese in this particular game).
Ah well, thanks for the reply and sorry I didn't search for what I had asked. /lazy
thank you for answering

I'm assuming the patch changes something on the disc which screws up the codes so any info around this would be great.
Well, for me all the cheats intended for IZJS do work with the patched versions. Are you sure you're using the right cheats?
Or maybe by "Japanese" you mean the original Japanese release? If that's the case, then they won't work. How could they. These are two absolutely different games. Anyway, if a cheat works with unpatched IZJS it (by all means) should work with patched version. There are changes in the executable in patched version, but none of them should have any impact on cheats (the patches just take care of some text display order and space width, that's all).
Oh dear. I figured out my problem I had a single digit wrong in my "M" code, so once I corrected that things got to working. What a noob!
Anyways, while I'm here can I offer you my thanks for making the patcher, it's a wonderful thing and thanks to you I no longer have to play my import copy with printed out menu translation sheets taped to the side of my TV. :P
I appreciate your work. Thanks again.
