Fatal Frame 2 stuck loading?

I just loaded Fatal Frame 2 on the latest ESR. It takes about 5 minutes of waiting through a black screen to load the menu. After the first cutscene, the game waited for about 5 minutes (very long) to load the first game screen. Then I moved forward for about 3 or 4 screens. At that point, the screen went black and remained so for about 20 minutes before I finally turned off the PS2.

I patched the ISO with ESR disc patched 0.24a. My PS2 is SCPH-77001.

Has anyone else been able to get the game to work? I think it's just loading everything very slowly. My listing is the only one in the wiki and there are none in the forum's compatibility list.

may be your laser is bad, or high speed recording.

but if the problem is only in this game. use it to OPL, I finished that whole game with him.

My other games load fine (so it's not my laser), and I recorded the disk at 2x.

I tried the game in OPL via network, and it works just fine. I added my problem to the ESR compatibility wiki. I can't link to the page though because this forum doesn't allow me to include links yet.
