Sorry for the late response. Was out on vacation.
The game is Twinkle Star Sprites, JPN. It is a direct rip of retail copy.
The good news is that I tried the game on my brother's slim PS2, model number: SCPH-77001 and it works great.
The discs are Sony DVD+R, and my conclusion is that perhaps my fat PS2 which is version 1 has a laser that is either recognizing the disc with ESR mode, or it has something to deal with mechacon.
Nonetheless, thanks to everyone for your help. Fat PS2 I will use swap magic as necessary, and slim PS2 I will use ESR.
mmm.... still no working my ESR can someone help me?

i have the common problem with ESR, i have burned the iso patched ina dvd-R sony and th ESR always says unknow media in drive, i have heard that some people do not have problems with dvd+R on a slim, that mean that I have a slim 70011 so what can i do? the game is silent hill 4 ntsc
dude using IMGBURN set Bookmark to DVD-R it might help
Apparently the guy was banned for piracy anyway, but for the next time please remember that the correct measure is to set "Booktype" to "DVD-ROM" in ImgBurn. Setting it to "DVD-R" may work, but is not the ideal (since original games are always "DVD-ROM").

So we can't just tell people to fix the booktype and consider that the end of the matter, since doing so could be impossible for them, at least without further assistance.
But of course, for such cases it would be better to simply have them use DVD-R discs instead, where the problem doesn't exist.

Damn people. They just don't get it........... The rules are quiet simple, they just don't read them, they just click the (X) I agree button and think their safe..
LOL, not from Bootleg, the biggest noob killer of all....
dvd-rs work alot better than + on fat ps2, and + work better on slim ps2
I also need to contact sony and see if that website that idiot posted (in the soft deleted post) is actually legal. my money is that it isn't.
What writer do you have btw?
A friend of mine has this problem too . Console 30004 reads original DVD games and movies but when he tries to run a backup with ESR .." Unknown media in drive " Is it possible for a laser to read original DVD's but not burned ones ?
Would this help ? http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php...placementGuide
