I like your decision ffgriever. You are absolutely right about the license. You are great man.![]()
More like as a statement of "wanting my PS2 to start up as fast as possible since I already have to deal with the stupid PlayStation 2 logo"
Can you imagine if every piece of software had a flash screen? Hmm, time to open up the web browser *splash screen* hmm time to open up the IRC client *splash screen* hmm time to open the torrent program *splash screen* *splash screen* *splash screen*
Like many others here I was apprehensive about having a splash screen added to ESR. I like to have a very minimalistic setup to load as quickly as possible, but codone has presented some very good arguments for the splash screen:
My only question is: what's to stop the scammers from using version 8a, since it's still available and doesn't have the splash screen?
ffgriever, the bottom line is that it's your program to do with what you want. You seem to be a more than reasonable person, so I am sure that whatever you decide will be the right decision.
Thank you for giving us the privilege of such a wonderful program.![]()
No need to remove anything from it.I agree with most here, if they can't stand the 4 seconds it takes to get past a splash screen, then they don't need to use the program. it's rediculous that people are so impatient or support theives so much that they have to bitch about it.

Btw.: @ffg: I also like the idea mentioned, about showing the splash, when it "flickers colored frames" (in the middle, where the black area is?)
Will reducing load-times and shows your logo, while initiating game.
What do you think?
FFG, dont even think of such a thing. In my opinion only you are capable of bring out such an extremely brilliant s/w. U and Jimmy made the PS2 Scenario alive again . If you ask me, just ignore them. They have no right to ask wht u do with ur s/w. Also they have no right to criticize if it is not for the good of the s/w. I think they are too dependent on free works by others , or stolen work and think about how it is better for them alone. Otherwise they would have atleast given some compliments when ESR was released....
For me U R THE MAN!!!! Even though most of here have a modchip or methods to load backups or home brew, we all try to help you out to make it better . This itself show how many people support. Just dont bother about two "unknowns".
Personally I like having the splash screen and I don't understand why all these guys are insulting ffgriever over it. Big whoop, 4 seconds longer waiting for a disc to stat and besides like codone said, it gives the ps2 a few seconds to detect the disc, which is great if you want to boot esr straight away.
@ffgriever
I understand your reasons for doing this but wouldnt it be a bit more effective to get jimmi to add a splash screen to freemcboot. I mean if people are forced to see the screen everytime the ps2 starts up it would sink into their heads better.
To break a bit all this discussion thing (that shouldn't even exist by now.. heck, it's like asking EEUG to remove the logo from SMS! c'mon people, get over it and I have to tell you.. If I was ffgriever, i'd put my logo, then require the user to press a buttom to continue in the best of the style "press X if you understood that this is a free software that you can download from psx-scene.com")
Anyway, ffgriever, I'm wondering if it's possible to make ESR to look for a program in the memorystick instead of the memorycard. I'm asking this coz I got a free slim ps2 with a bad dvd mechanism (owner tried to fix it but it's fubared) so I want to boot from FMCB, to ESR then USBAdvance using a external usb enclosure to play some games. Now correct me if I'm wrong. I *think* i read somewhere that esr enhances the usbadvance compatibility. It's that right? If not, nevermind my request![]()
