I haven't tried this with every available elf file, but the latest version (with a spashscreen) isn't working with Xploder HDTV player. While older versions (without splashscreens) were working fine.
@ffgriever
Could you someday make a patch for hdtv xploder, players? I only have only one TV, and would be nice to use HDTV.
Anyway, I'll wait. ESR is the best program. Thanks again.
Hi guys, I tried a lot but can't seem to get it working
This is what I did:
I got the BOOT folder from this archive:
http://www.gamegen.com.br//index.php?showtopic=21368%29 The file was:
SantasLittleELFs.zip, I've put the boot folder on the memor card with the savegamemanager.
Tried to start with R1 but get message:
"failed to launch elf."
Then I tried to put the 2 elf files from this archive:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast...blic-beta.html The file was:
ESR beta r7a.rar in the boot folder, but the same error remains.
Can anyone tell me what files need to be in the root folder?
By the way, I didn't change anything to my memor card so it still has the firmware 1.2 on it and my saved games.
Please help me out
thanks a lot
hi i figured out how to get bleach blade battlers(ntsc-j) working with esr r9a. all you have to do is remove the memory card after all the colors have gone through and then select the left option. once on the main screen replace the memcard and make a save and you're good to go. :)
Does anyone want to be guinea pig and test the ESR GUI?
It's based on ESR r9b (not yet published, I didn't have time to make proper testing, so most likely it will be released tommorow).
Options:
Launch CDVD - it will launch PS2DVDV/PS2DVD in drive directly (also original PS2CDs) - just as in "dvd direct/direct off" versions of usual ESR.
Launch App - it will launch application in mcx:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or mcx:/B?-DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF, where x - memory card slot, either 0 or 1; ? stands for regional code: E, A, I. Application will gain DVDV reading support (just as in "mcard" version of the usual ESR).
Launch OSDSYS - it will simply launch OSDSYS, so with FMCB installed, it will relaunch FMCB.
Disable ESR after first IOP reset - does exactly what it means. Just as in the "off" version of usual ESR.
Use Synchronous Mode - will use synchronous reads, some incompatible games need that. This option saves a lot of IOP memory. This will make the reads to be slower and FMVs sometimes to be choppy. Some games will hate this option and will refuse to work at all.
Spoof Media Type - always returns "PS2CD" media type to the EE side. It is just a direct followup of automatic media mode patching seen in earlier ESR revisions. With this option, most cd converted games will not need anything else (no patches, etc.) - this doesn't apply to games that are incompatible due to bad conversion (static LBA tables or other protections).
For example:
To play "Jak and Daxter: Precursor's Legacy", which is incompatible with all previous ESR revisions choose:
"Disable ESR after first IOP reset" (to prevent this game from crashing randomly at cutscenes)
"Use synchronous mode" (to make it work at all)
Now just use "Launch CDVD" and it will work.
Changelog for the yet unreleased ESR r9b which this GUI is based on:
Note, that this GUI is nothing more than a test. It's unfinished and most likely has many bugs... but should work fine in most of the cases.Quote:
ESR public beta, revision 9b
* halved memory usage on IOP side (some new games should work, like Melty Blood: Act Cadenza)
* changed once again EE streams (Ape Escape 2, Gitaroo Man, maybe more)
* it doesn't matter anymore if ESR is launched directly from FMCB or through uLE (KYA: Dark Lineage, V-Rally 3, maybe some more games)
* corrected some stack pointer problems on EE side
* some minor changes to make future compiling and management easier (also necessary to simplify GUI version a lot)
I love being guniea pig! BRB for a few, gotta test.
EDIT: GUI is beatiful! I tested and works so far with Guitar Hero 3 and GTA Vice City Stories.
Worked great with Lego Indiana Jones! :D
GUI is a beauty, but it's a little "brighty" on my TV, making it hard to read buttons' captions.
I'm wondering how those special compatibility "switches" will be issued in the non-GUI version. Maybe an index file (text file) containing all game IDs that need special compatibility modes? :chinscrat
Keep up the great job! ;)

Thought suloku mentioned something similar to FMCB and someone other also,...
A simple text, like this e.g.(?):
S***-ID ; (maybe the name); Modes, which are valid for this game,...\
SLUS_213.45; (Homebrew-Collection); 1; 2; 3
Just a sample,... ";" as "Field-Terminator".
