Been following this thread for quite some time. I've successfully tested ESR with a whole bunch of DVD patched games and it has worked flawlessly.
Now, I see a couple of dudes talking about HDD. I know (not for a fact but from I what read over some other forums) that using HDAdvance works but it has limited compatibility.
My question is: how does that change using one of the 3 ESR .ELF files? Meaning: what is the best configuration to play games from a USB HDD?
The only working tool for USB HDD is USBExtreme wich has a lack of compatiblity.
is it a must to patch normal ps2 dvd to dvdv in order to use the ESR?
Im guessing that the Momento or the ESR supports converting the CD games to Audio cd .. to enable them to boot . ? if this is posable .
Both Memento and ESR support DVD only.
Attempting to implement a filesystem using Audio CD tracks (like SMS does for media files) would not work well for games, since Audio CD tracks have no error detection or correction at all, so any simple implementation would only lead to frequent crashing. And a complex implementation of error detection and correction in the driver would be a major project in itself, and would most likely cause a horde of new compatibility problems (like consuming too much IOP RAM etc).
