ESR and progressive scan

I have a few backups that I used to hold triangle + X buttons at Playstation screen and would turn on progressive mode. I read that old PS2s like mine did not have progressive scan on DVDs only on games. In this case, ESR runs my backup through DVD player (sort of) but I cannot tell is the game in progressive scan or not because there is no more Playstation screen

Is it possible to run progressive scan with ESR?

I have a V9 console connected via a progressive component cable to a LCD TV. It is working in games in 480p, but for some reason, the image has some interferences/crawling lines on it. Don't know if it is the cable, the PS2... the TV works fine with other 480p sources.

If you make a backup of a game and play it in the ESR you could check if the lines disappear

When do you turn progressive scan on on the games other than the games that have that option in the game video settings menu (like Guitar Hero and such). Games that need triangle + X during start need that at the Playstation screen and my tv does not show if the signal is prog or not...

I got some component cables yesterday, have tried out some PS games on them and they all work fine using ESR (holding triangle & X after the last colour flashes and screeen turns black)

Also GT4 works very nice in 1080i mode.

Hi can you please tell me how can you verify you have progressive scan enabled?Where can I see it?

Umm...it's been a while since I don't have PS2 anymore but it's an option in the menu, not present in PAL version but was in the US NTSC version which I had.
