I'm using Maxwell DVD-R discs. I tried burning a backup of Kingdom Hearts. My steps were as follows: Ripped Game with Alcohol 120% (couldn't get imgburn working for some reason), patched image, burned at 4x speed with alcohol 120%, launched with ESR. It didn't load at all, just went to black screen, so I tried reloading it several times. Then I noticed that ESR never detects the disc. It just stays on "detecting". Can anyone help me with this issue? It would be greatly appreciated.

To start what version of PS2 you have because in the past I sure I test the Maxwell disc and out of 4 ps2 none read those disc I have to use Taiyo Juden disk or Verbatim to made them work correctly also Imgburn works perfect for what you need what was the problem you got that you can backup the game that you need.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I took your advice and got imgburn working and I had no issues with any of the backups playing after that. Except I couldn't seem to get any ps1 backups to work. I followed the instructions for converting a CD based game to DVD, but ESR wouldn't play it. I looked up more information on it and it looks like ESR doesn't play PS1 backups at all, if that's right?

No ESR is for PS2 games only and without a mod chip to play most backups of PS1
Their is alternatives to that but most are buggy or just risky
Like swap trick to PS1 risky
or Emulator for PS1 by the maker of ESR http://psx-scene.com/forums/f292/new...s2psxe-107383/ (NEW Test-Bundle for PS2PSXe)
