Try IMG-Burn, with the AWS-Speed-Setting.

Essentially I've tried to boot Persona 3: FES and Okami backups in the last few days with ESR, and when I press launch DVD the screen goes black and nothing happens. I know when a game boots successfully there are color flashes but for these games there are none, just goes black. I've tried the three different variables on the ESR screen, they make no difference. When I tried pressing Launch APP instead of Launch Disc, I got a pink screen that just stayed there - I don't really know what this function is but I thought it was worth mentioning. I also tried booting them just with swap magic but that didn't work either which suggests to me it's not a fault with ESR, but idk
Laptop-Burners usually do not produce good results (I mean, the rate of correctable errors is high...).
All the games I've burnt before work fine, although I did burn them with another burner. In the last few days I've used my laptop to burn Okami, Persona 3 and Hitman, and only Hitman works. From reading around online the games I'm trying to boot do work with ESR, so I don't get what the trouble is. Any info and help is much appreciated
You could try IMGBurn and set the write-speed to 'AWS'.
The result might be good enough, so... your PS2 might be able to read it afterwards... Nevertheless, I still suggest you to use the other DVD-Writer for your PS2-Backups...
