On win xp the instalation just stops.. i get stopped working error but application is still running.
When you mention that it "crashed", did you mean that it just stops there?
I am getting this impression that you meant something like that.
I need accurate data, since I don't own a physical copy of that GTA game.
On win 7 it will terminate the application that it stopped working
I should have specified that it just shows error that it cannot access the disk image.
Did you have Windows Media Player running? Even though it seems impossible, WMP has been known to hog removable disks, preventing other programs from locking some devices.
You mentioned that PS2DCDMP got some sort of "Access denied" error. That seems suspicious to me as the latest versions of PS2DCDMP do not lock the source resource (E.g. .ISO disc image or CD/DVD drive), and hence such errors should not occur...
My DCDMP ver. is v0.98. yea.. i know.. i just have no vebartims(i trust those) at my disposal... i used EMTEC's.. those are pretty low...
Do you have enough space on your disk? Which version of PS2DCDMP are you using?
The latest version of PS2DCDMP is v0.98C for PS2ESDL v0.810, and v0.99 for PS2ESDL v0.818C (and for the upcoming v0.820).
Also, I do hope that your copy of GTA:SA came on a DVD disc. As far as I know, GTA:SA is a DVD game and will not boot nor fit on a CD-ROM.
But if your copy really is a CD-ROM, then there is something very wrong here....
Regarding ESR: You should probably use high-quality media too. Use discs of good quality like Verbatim DataLife Plus DVD-R discs that were manufactured by Taiyo Yuden or Mitsubishi.
You might also want to re-dump the game again, in case you got a bad dump.
EDIT1: This disscusion pretty fast changed from fifa 10 to gta sa.... i maybe found the problem.... i think the ps2 GTA's were only released as DVD5... and im not quite sure if DCDMP accepts DVD5... is there any way to convert DVD5 img to DVD9 ? (I may now sayd total bullshit but it was worth a try)
