I can report that the runme.elf you just posted works fine on my ntsc V9. I can browse a disk and also launch it with the MISC/PS2Disc Command. Oh and Cogswap launches without hanging. I was also able to turn disc control on without a hang. Thanks for this update
*edit* It seems that while cogswap does load, it wont work. it will try and boot a game but fail. and this is with games that work when swapping with the independence exploit
*edit2* seems my laser was just being a little annoying. and swapping is working fine now... kind of odd though considering that i tested with independence after my first 3 failures and it worked fine. Maybe there is something else going on. I had another little odd problem. when i first got the swap to work with mcboot, the game wouldnt recognize any memory card i had plugged in. but i cant seem to reproduce that bug.

i have the same version 50001 NTSC console, the RUNME_NTSC_test1 is work for me too
V12 slim NTSA USA here again, see specs in my prior post. Newest RUNME seems to make some progress. ULE does not hang anymore when I enable disc control or attempt the read the disc in any way. It now says failed when I use PS2Disc under most situations. The does not say failed if I boot with a retail disc, and swap to a copied disc without triggering the lid switch. If I trigger the lid switch, it will say failed. When it fails, I can browser the CDFS folder, but nothing is there. If I swap as described above, I can browse the contents of both discs. When I try PS2Disc command after this, the screen goes black as if it's loading the game, but the lens either stays in one spot while the disc spins forever, or the disc very quickly stops. In both cases, the screen stays black and nothing happens.
I don't know what cogswap is, so I can't test that. Thanks for your hard work! Feels like you're getting very close.
Edit: I found cogswap. It boots a game! It only works of course if I boot the ps2 with a retail disc (I have 4 retail games, and all of them are dual layer discs, which seem to fail when being swapped to single layer games, so they can't be used, so I'm using swap magic dvd still until I get a retail dvd single layer game). After booting, with disc control on (havent tested with off) I load cogswap, I press X, it checks the retail disc, I swap to the copy without triggering the lid, and it plays! The game works.
Edit2: Swap Magic DVD 3.8 ELF File version also works in place of cogswap, but since cogswap is so much smaller in size, it's more ideal.
Edit3: I bought Devil May Cry 1 to use as a trigger disc for cogswap. Sure enough, it works great.

I've noticed annother oddity. If i boot with the tray out. it will hang at a black screen. This only happens with my datel card. My sony card works fine.
Have you news about the multilanguage problem?

Excuse my inglish, I talk spanish.
Correction: I noticed, if you have the disc control ON , many elfs do not work, and if you turn off the compatibility raises up, like emulators.
Still whit the older runme.elf I was not able to run many emulator and now whit the new I can.
Excuse, there is a way to make compatibles pendrives of 4GB, mine do not work (kingston 4G), kingston 1gb works ok.

I wanted to add that cogswap, despite working on PS2 backups, (procedure detailed previously), it will not work on PS1 backups even though it identifies the PS1 retail disc just fine. Instead I used PSXLAUNCHER.ELF. It works fine. Just boot with PS1 retail game inserted, run the launcher, insert PS1 backup game, press X. So yeah, more good news. I can only assume COGSWAP will work with PS2 CD backups, but I dont have a PS2 CD retail game to try (like Half-Life or ICO).
Oh and "PS2Disc" does not work in ULE on PS1 retail discs. It worked on PS2 retail discs. So the name does what it says, that's for sure.
@ ffgriever -- Thank you for the v9 ntsc fix...works on my v9 and v15 with DISC CONTROL: on or off. the disc I've tried so far is AR MAX evo, and this doesn't work with either disc control on or off. i don't really care if this ps2 disc work, I'm just posting results of my test.
PSX/ PS2 cds spin at a very high speed(much faster than normal) when accessed with disc control off

Reason: test 2,3,
I also had success on my NTSC v9 and v12 with the new runme.elf. It worked on my CB9.2 and 10 elf, as well as ule (.cnf with disc control on, ps2disc, or launch SLUS elf for original disc and SMS. If I run into something that doesn't work correctly with I'll report back.
I played an original disc with cheats (CB 10 elf launched from mass) on v12 with no problems!
Also works on V17.. Untested actualy lauching anything with it ..
