Not all games work when launch with ps2disc
v3 pal guitar hero II crash in logo of activision for example.
In version 1.2, ULE must be as /BOOT/BOOT.ELF

Thank you very much. I'll try it.

ok, after going back to your other test RUNME.ELF with cdvd access I got one step further:
These freezes in uLE only happen when:
1. I have a RUNME.ELF with CDVD access installed
2. In uLE I have "DISC CONTROL" activated to get the drive motor to stop
3. I boot the console without a disc in its drive (as noticed before)
The uLE version is irrelevant. It did happen with the "4.12e plus" version, but due to the freezes I replaced it with the plain official uLE 4.12.
The "crashing" configuration is with CDVD enabled and "DISC CONTROL" enabled. Looks like something yet needs to be initialised, something the OSDSYS would do before launching a game disc. Something that would not leave a difference between "is there a disc in drive while initialisation or not?".
"DISC CONTROL" has no effect on not working original game discs (tested with Amplitude - won't run from freeMcBoot).
NTSC USA user here. v12 Slim PS2. SCPH-700012. Browser 1.40. CD Player 2.00. DVD Player 3.10U.Installed it using swap magic disc to boot the elf file. I have the same disc issue as previous users mention. Anytime ule or any other homebrew tool so much as tries to access the disc drive, it freezes. Sure hope this will be fixed.
Also, no variations of having real or backup games in the drive, or triggering the lid sensor at any time, had any effect. No matter what, the system will always lock up when given a command to access the disc.

I received following bios dump from bfoos:
I made some changes to the cdvd init procedure, that should at least make his console booting (but everyone is welcome to try).
scph-50001 v9 NTSC, gh-023
Bios PS2 1.70 Date: 2003 03 25
Note for PAL users:
Don't bother to install this one as it will not work on PAL consoles. It's meant for NTSC ones.
Just replace your current RUNME.ELF with this one and report (just remember about the paths).
I have no NTSC consoles here, but I hope this one will work, at least for some users.
PS. It is safer to boot without cd/dvd in drive and then open the tray and put the cd/dvd and close it. Even the PAL version sometimes (it happened three or four times for me... tried ~100 times) on my v7 tends to not detect cd/dvd that was in drive at boot time (but opening the tray and closing it helps). Also have disc control in uLE turned off for initial tests (but check it also with turned on).
