Hey all. I recently moved to Korea and brought my US NTSC system with me. Korea uses NTSC J standards for their PS2 games. I was wondering if FMCB paired with some other program or .ELF could launch import games. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

ESR and all other programs that run burned games should run imports with no problem. The issue is in the video standard that the game uses. NTSC games will work on any NTSC compatible TV whether it is US or Japan. PAL on the other hand will only work if the NTSC TV you have has support for PAL. Most PAL TVs however usually also have support for NTSC.
is there a way to force the NTSC video while playing a PAL game?
There are several ways to enforce NTSC mode on PAL games.
1. Swap Magic
2. PAL 2 NTSC patches
3. Cheat codes (Codebreaker, Action Replay, Action Replay MAX)
Best regards

Hmm I recently tried this with Biohazard 4 here using ESR and the game wouldn't boot at all. It just gave me a black screen... unless I'm supposed to be using a different file from the 3 that are in the ESR folder?
If it gives you just the black screen (and no other colors first), then it's just waiting for the mechacon to recognize the DVD. Eventually, no proper DVDV/PS2DVD/PS2CD has been detected - read: "unknown media type" or "invalid media". Use the gui version and check what status is displayed.
Just in case... You DID patch the game, right?

-pause- Sorry, I was under the assumption I didn't need to make an image of the game, and I could simply boot it from the original disc. If not, I was completely mistaken.
Couldn't you just use zoneloader.elf to make your original import disc playable on consoles of different regions?
I believe the possibility of reprograming zoneloader so that it could be used in combination with ESR and HDLoader was discussed, however was quickly forgotten.
