Hey there, I have read around everywhere and stuff, and I was wondering what the best setup would be to boot backups.

I am in possesion of Swap Magic 2.0, 8mb memory card. Shitload of empty dvd's. And some cool games. (Still waiting for my fliptop case to come in.)

So what would be the best and easiest way to do this?

You're in the right subforum but didn't search around in it.

first read up on both free mc boot and esr.

    install free mc boot.
    then install ESR.

    enjoy.

Correction, I did search around. I installed mc boot by burning it on a dvd and booting the dvd with swap magic 2 but when i press the mc boot option in my ps2 menu I get a black screen and it doesnt do anything then it reboots :/.

edit: also, I don't like patching my iso's as I would have to reburn them all again. Is it possible to use multiple loaders for other games?

Then there's no point of you posting in the 'FreeVAST' section sine you won't use this extremely simple method. use swapmagic and a slide card. Since that is the case, this thread will be moved to the swap method/exploit subforum as it should have been there since you refuse to use the method that belongs in the original location of this thread.

My guess is that you don't have a single original game which is why you don't want to patch the ISO. too bad for you. And no, you didn't do much searching since you would have found the information you need in the other subforum.

    Um....

I buy all my games o.0
I was just suggesting that I could easily use swapmagics elf or other programs to launch the original disc I bought, btw.. If I would be downloading the games it wouldn't be so hard to patch them now would it -,-"

So please move back to FreeVAST as I do use this method. I got Free MC Boot working but I couldn't find anywhere that I HAVE TO HAVE a boot.elf in a boot folder on the usb. My current thoughts are just to use keylauncher with ElaunchULF and ESR and Swapmagic ELF.

    This would increase compatibility

Sorry if I sounded wrong in my previous post. I was not refusing the ESR method but was just wondering what would be best

Must say I love this method now It now directboots to keylauncher and it works ;o

Ty for your trouble (even though it was just taking time to answer )

Keylauncher is old and no longer supported. uLaunchELF is the top dog concerning launchers since it has built in FTP, HDD management, File management, MC management, etc. you'll want to use the current version as your BOOT.ELF.

Swapmagic nor uLE can increase ESR's compatibility. that program is independent of thse programs. the only thing ESR is dependent on is the C/DVD fix that is integrated within FMCB. Now that you have that installed, all you have to do is insert your ESR patched DVD game and start ESR and you're good to go.

So far, there's not too many games that won't work with ESR, so compatibility isn't too much of a worry.

I mean launching dvd's with swapmagic elf and the keylauncher is because my little brother wants to play too :P And I am not going to explain which ulf he is going to need to launch xD

OK NVM XD Just found out uLaunchELF has the same functionality

TY works like a charm ;3
