So I've had free mcboot and esr on my memory card for about a month and all the backups I have worked fine. A few days ago, I tried loading Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4 and it took a good 10 minutes for just one of the colors from the esr thing to come up. I had to wait about another 10 minutes for the game to go to the start screen. It would also freeze while trying to load a fight. When I tried the original, everything was fine and as fast as normal. I used DVD Decrypter to rip the ISO, ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a to patch and finally DVD Decrypter to burn patched ISO to a Sony DVD-R disc at x4 speed. Am I doing anything wrong or is my ps2 laser just dying on me.

What type of DVD-R are you using?

And what is the MAX burn speed of the DVD-R's your using?

Try to burn at 1/2 of the max burn speed of the DVD-R's your using.

    I'm using Sony DVD-R.
    Max burning speed is x16.
I'll try it with Kingdom Hearts 2.

I see you have said you used DVD Decrypter.

Have you tried using IMGBurn the newest version?

I have this game working on Sony DVD-R myself, and it is 100% confirmed working.

Try re-ripping it with IMGBurn "newest version"

Try burning it at 8x - 10x... IMGBurn "newest version"

I just finished burning Kingdom Hearts 2 and its working but a lot slower than the original. Esr still took a few minutes to get to the colors and even froze on pink for a minute.

Should I try re-ripping the Naruto game with IMGburn?

Weirdly, a newly and slowly burned DVD will always work better then older ones when your Laser goes downhill. I experienced that too, it just got really weird when a newly burned game worked fine the first day and the next it starts to be incredibly slow. That happened for some time till the Laser officially died.

That's due to the 'degration' of the discs.
The dye/data-layer is chemically reacting with light.
How slower this reaction is in normal conditions, so longer the data on it is reliable.

He could try some Verbatims, or Tayos.
Beside that he maybe can play a few games from other devices than CD/DVD.

It was just very interresting how the DVD lost visibly on Speed, after just one night (and I never took the Disc out the PS2). Also, I had to burn every Disc with speed 2x since everthing faster was already to much for my laser.

Though since I started using OPL and USBAdvance I never actually had the need to burn Discs anymore.
