I just tried out ESR for the first time and it works great! I just softmodded my "Phat" PS2 with FMCB and all the goodies from the Newbi package. I used GTA III as a swap disk to softmod my PS2 and I kinda scratched it up a little. It would play fine but, when I tried to copy it to the HD, HDLoader would quit with read errors. I really wanted it on the HD (that was the reason I installed a 80GB HD) so I used ISObuster to get the ISO off the game disk.

I patched the ISO with ESR Disk Patcher V0.24a and burned it to a Memorex DVD+R disk. I loaded it into the PS2 and it brought up the ESR options screen. I clicked on Launch CDVD and it started up uLaunch. From the browse menu in uLanch I went to the MC boot file and clicked on HDLoader. HDLoader started up, looked at the disk, asked for a name and copied it with no problem! I just finished playing GTA III for about an hour now and everything seems to work fine.

I just want to thank everyone and the developers here on PSX-Scene for your hard work and sharing. You guys ROCK!

    Mike

Give you a peace of advise too try out OPL (Open PS2 Loader) it has higher compatibility with most games and you can play games over SMB on PC or USB games or Internal HD like HDloader

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

Loaded OPL and I have to admit that it is pretty slick! Still learning all the configurations!

If you still need help configuring OPL, go here:

    Official OPLv0.8 User Guides

That's the official OPL site, and it has very detailed tutorials on everything. Personally, I'm using OPL to launch games from the internal hard drive, and it's working great, but I really had to haunt the OPL site to figure out how to make it work. Now that I am set up, though, I can dump an ISO into my PS2's hard drive directly from my PC using my home's LAN. It's really quite slick.

Thanks for the link ShadeTail! Like you, I'm using OPL now to run games from my HD also. I want to read up on transferring ISO's into the PS2's HD using the LAN. I've got it setup on my Xbox to transfer through the LAN, I just need to see how to do it using OPL.

Don't even bother. Just connect your HDD to your pc either through a carry case or using the IDE connections on your motherboard, will take less than 3 minutes to install any game against 25/30 minutes through a network connection. Use winhiip or hdldump gui to install your games.
