[Solved] ESR with pink screen on a brand new SCPH-90004, after a week of normal use

I installed uLaunchELF + ESR on a brand new SCPH-90004 from a friend of mine, burned a few games (Verbatim DVD-R at 4x) so his kids wouldn't destroy the originals (mostly Buzz! games), and now, after using the PS2 over a weekend and a few nights, ESR just stops at the pink/magenta screen... for all games.

Original games still work fine, so I'm thinking it could be the laser... but it's brand new... any thoughts?

EDIT: just a slight info update. I burned a new Verbatim DVD-R on another computer, tried it with ESR and got "pinked". I also tried running ESR from a usb pen and got "pinked" again, so the problem is not a corrupted ESR file on the MC. Later tonight I'll try to use the same MC and DVD-R on my PS2 Phat, if it boots i blame the slim's laser, if it doesn't i blame the DVD-R since they worked on mine before... If it's the first, and since original games work, the only other solution would be OPL + LAN and/or USB...

Did you burn them at the slowest possible speed?

Do you use the correct ESR version?

I have read that topic, but their problem is that ESR never worked, and in my case it stopped working for all ESR patched games after a few days of use. If some games still worked, i would go for bad recording, but they all stopped working.

I'm using the same setup as dlanor, I use Swapmagic CD/DVD to run mc0's SWAPMAGIC dot ELF (uLaunchELF), then I use (X) to run ESR dvd direct on or (O) to run ESR dvd direct off.

Probably this SCPH-90004 (0D) laser isn't that good, and quality degraded enough so patched DVDs can't work with ESR... In about 6 hours I'll have confirmation of my suspicions, when i test the same setup with my (much) older PS2 phat.

EDIT: I needed over 10 retries to post, annoying "You must have 30 posts and be a member for 30 days in order to post links" message, there is NO link, i think it was "SWAPMAGIC dot ELF"...

EDIT2: Problem solved! The same was happening in my PS2 Phat, so it was either the DVDs quality (doubtful) or something wrong in the MC. It was uLaunchELF! It is v4.42, running it clean (without CNF, LNG and JPG) and manually browsing for ESR ELF made ESR work again. But the weirdest thing is, i added back the 3 files, and ESR still works. Go figure...
