Topic Title before it suddenly vanished: Little Big Planet 2 - BCUS98245 [.PKG for GeoHot CFW 3.55-JB] & 3.41 - in the PS3 Game Backup forum of PSX PS2 PS3 Scene Modchip & Jailbreak Community.

Not sure at all of what happened to my thread as I'm pretty sure it didn't go against any of the Forum Rules and Guidelines.

    Here WAS the original LINK

I've contacted an Admin about it but so far no response.

Since there wasn't even a warning or any word prior to its removal; I'm kinda ticked off because all I was doing was providing a LiL Big Planet 2 3.55 .PKG for others to use and I'm sure I am not the only one who has done it.

I wasn't the one who deleted it, but you think it is o.k. to upload copyrighted stuff here and it isn't against the rules?

Prob posted in the wrong section? Someone mentioned downloading warez or something.

Maybe the EBOOT thread would have been better?

I`m sure they had their reasons mate. Not had any infractions or anything have you?

No, I know it isn't right to distribute copyrighted things within this Forum.
I was distributing what everyone else was distributing within the "EBOOT.bin 3.55 Thread", a .pkg file.
So I'm not sure how my .pkg differentiates from the rest of them in that thread. ;]
The Rules/FAQ <~ WAREZ considered Copyrighted?

Yeah, no infraction as far as I can tell. I'm starting to think they just deleted it because there is that EBOOT thread, too. Which I understand.
I'm sure I would have received an infraction for distributing copyrighted, etc.
    But that's not the case.
I'm over it just wanted a "reason".

Thanks for all your replies! Keep the Scene moving forward and over SCEA! (good luck Geo H.)

    SCEA only?
What about the other parts of SCE (SCEE, SCEI, etc)?

Btw.: The eboot-thread seems to not directly link to a warez-site but only file-hosters and you can't download the copyrighted file directly from our server.

I DELETED THE THREAD. It contains COPYRIGHTED CODE BY THE DEVELOPER. According to the rules (not written by me) I had every right to ban you upon deletion of the thread. I thought I was being nice by not. Apparently, I should go ahead and start banning pirates. And honestly, I don't like the EBOOT thread. In my opinion, it should be deleted and the users who post them be banned.

If people want to make EBOOT's for 3.41 / 3.15 etc then I can understand that, but think people should use something like bindiff etc... because end of the day the EBOOT is copyrighted code.

As to the ones requesting original Eboot's since 3.55 with BM support came out, well thats easy ban them, original Eboots are on the disk they originally backed up
Make sure you butter the non reflective side of your CD's / DVD's and Blu-Rays so that when you drop them, they land butter side down thus preventing scratches.

I've used the EBOOT threads, but I'm with Bootlegninja on this. Just have the guides and let us all work it out ourselves. Anyone lazy enough can find it from other sources. It always striked me as odd that this site with its clear stance against piracy, allowed such a thing in the first place! It's piracy to an extent, since they are game files.

Unless it's the matte of ensuring this site is the most popular for PS3 hacking.

Back in the day, we used PPF patches on ELF files on the PS2 for any patches that needed to take place. I don't see why we can't seem to do that now on PS3 EBOOT files these days. Well, I can. It's pure laziness.

In reality, I can see having patches attached in threads, (even in compatibility threads,) where the user can patch their own legally owned EBOOTs. There's also another reason why this is better. Often, the PPF patch is very small and can be downloaded very quickly. One other reason is that it more legally acceptable since it does not contain one bit of copyrighted code.

In the end, I don't see any difference between posting an EBOOT from a game and posting the entire game itself on the forums. My personal opinion, it's completely unacceptable.

Yeah, what ever happened to people using PPF-O-Matic?? Those were the days. That, and you were forced to know something about what you were doing. Ya know how many threads I merge a day for people asking for eboot.bin files? These kids are unwilling to learn how to do anything!!! Anyway, I'm with the rest of you on this one. I think sharing the .bin/.pkg files is stepping over the line a little bit, but as the admins have allowed it, I'm taking a back seat on the decision.
