PSX-Scene Dev Contest –
07-22-2011,09:52 AM
OK, at first I thought this was a total joke, but you guys seem to be dead serious.
WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU CHOOSING QUANTITY OVER QUALITY?
You start this contest, which is a really good idea, but you make it absolutely stupid. I'd be more than willing to jump in on this contest, but I refuse to play by these rules. The way you have it set up, the noob who release 5 POS applications is going to win over on the vet who releases 1 kick ass game.
I haven't been the biggest fan of PSX-Scene lately, but take it from someone who has been a developer for about 6 years now. If you guys want to draw attention here, have a REAL homebrew contest. You will have judges that will judge homebrew on certain criteria. Best game/app wins. Split that $250 up and offer prizes up to 3rd place. Offering prizes up to 3rd place will make it A LOT easier for some to join in. (I once joined a contest that offered up to 5th place, just because I knew I might be able to score 4th or 5th place. I did, btw.)
I've got nothing but free time for the next month (literally) and would LOVE to join a real homebrew contest. And I would have no problem 'hosting' the project on these forums. But c'mon guys, let's make this real. Don't just delete my thread and ignore me. Let some other devs come in here and tell you what they think. I may be completely crazy, but I'm pretty sure that you'd get a lot more attention if you have a real contest.
You have one developer right here who's ready to make this contest competitive. Let's see who agrees with me. It's up to you users. Let's make this place fun again.

The contest rules have been modified to reflect that the winner will be the person who receives the most 'likes' to their submission by members of the PSX-Scene community. This update will reward quality vs quantity as the knowledgeable members of the community will have control over which submission wins the monthly contest. Thanks for the great feedback.
