I was digging through my closet and I found my old PSP slim with firmware 3.90 on it. Whats the fastest and easiest way to get this puppy on CFW? Is it still pandora or can I use something else now? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Update to something like 5.03 and use a HEN to run Hellcat's recovery installer to get CFW(5.00 m33-6, then update to 5.50 GEN d3 then to prometheus-4, if you want the latest CFW. If not do m33 to 5.00 Prometheus-4). That PSP should be old enough to have full CFW. If not, use PSPIdent 0.70 to make absolutely sure you can.

No prob. 5.03 HEN might take a few tries, though. It tends to crash. I'll see if I can find a signed version for you.

    Edit: http://pspslimhacks.com/signed-5-03-...-hen-released/

    Try that.

Thanks for your help. So I need to get on OFW 5.03 first and then play with this?

You could try it on the OFW you're on now if you want, but it's designed for 5.03. The worst that can happen is it crashes and turns off the PSP.

I'm not sure if it's too late but your PSP was on 3.90. That means you can install permanent CFW and use a pandora at any time. (M33, GEN).

5.00 M33 is stable. Memory Stick Speedup, etc.
5.50 GEN D3 doesn't require to patch but this is irrelevant now.

I have not tested this so look around first but it might be possible to get Recovery Flasher 1.65, get the 5.00 psp update and downgrade your slim to 5.00. Recovery flashers installs 5.00 M33-6.

    or

If you have a Pandora, simply do that.

With that being said I've never tried to do this. Worst case scenario, your PSP bricks but with a Pandora battery bricks don't even matter.

Not if you want to play newer games without patching the ISOs using ISOTOOL, or getting prepatched ones. If you update to 5.00 prometheus-4 or 5.50 prometheus-4 you won't have to worry about stuff like that.
