Just wanted to say that I shipped my ps2 to Bill Ederer at New Age PSX in Chicago, and I'm so excited to get it chipped! Woohoo! I can direct boot all my backups now! It's been a long time coming, the last time I almost bought a modchip, I got a damn traffic ticket and had to use my modchip money to pay for a lawyer to fix it. Well, finally, I now have the power!

yeah, feels great to be joining the no swap crowd, got sooo sick of swapping, not only that but my CD tray was about to go kaput after all that motor strain on it, screw no solders!

I'm just hoping my v7 doesn't have Magic 3.1 problems, I've heard so many rumors I don't know what to think sometimes, even though I've been hanging on these forums for a while.

I trust Bill from New Age PSX in Chicago will do a great job, he's the best in the Midwest and very reliable, knows a ton about ps2's so I'm sure he'll make sure my installation is 100% reliable.

Anyways, I'll let you all know how it goes when I get it back sometime next week!

Congrats Its so much easier, just put the game in and it works no getting up... putting in the gameshark... waiting..... swapping.... CURSING IF THE M@^%$&@% freezes and you have to do it again (that part of the game, and the swap)..... its a good life lol

    you know something crazy....

turns out the dude that installed my chip was actually Nicotine`. heh

yeah, and the fact I can boot DVD+R's without damaging my CD tray anymore. My v4 CD tray was slowing down so much because of the strain that chip put on the motor. Especially when I did the double swap to do DVD-R's. Not only that, but the time and patience and general annoyance needed sucked, I should have just bought a Messiah 1 for my GT3 pack ps2 in the first place, gotten the color fix and had it pro installed and been done with it. But i suppose getting a v7 is the smart thing to do anyways, its been known that v1-4 lasers get fried quickly from booting backups compared to v5-8 lasers.
