September 10, 2005 (BELLEVILLE, Ill.) - A St. Clair County man is facing charges of growing marijuana after he reported to authorities that his pot plants had been stolen.
Fifty-two-year-old Anthony Martin of unincorporated Belleville told a St. Clair County sheriff's deputy that a female neighbor had stolen his marijuana plants. Authorities say Martin led the deputy to a spot where the plants had been and -- to his apparent surprise -- the plants were back, not missing after all.

Martin was arrested September Second and charged with possession and growing marijuana. He has since posted bail and is awaiting a court appearance.

Authorities say Martin told them he had been drinking, but that someone must have put the marijuana plants back without his knowledge.
