Dont forget 64-Bit Edition.
I use Pro, gonna use 64bit once i get my new cpus.
wats the differences between 64 bit and pro? why is it better and can i use it on my pc?
64- Bit is for 64-Bit CPUs such as the Intel Itanium or the upcomming AMD Athlon-64bit (opteron). Won't work on a normal System. I use pro for now, not really sure what the diff is with it and home, but might aswell get the better one any ways. Media center, sounds gay.
64 bit is hella fast
But only for 64-bit cpus
Actually, necrolop, I have Media Center Edition and it rocks! It is just Windows XP Professional with some added stuff like a TV Tuner that can record TV like a Tivo or Ultimate TV box can, all Media Center PC's also come with a Video Capture Card, DVD Burner, Audigy sound card, Geforce 4 or Radeon Pro GFX card, and mine has a 2.53 gHz processor.....so sorry to say Necrolop, but Media Center is awesome, and is by far my favorite Windows OS, as is by any other person who owns a Media Center PC.
I haven't tried 64-bit edition, but I heard its more for video developers and such and not orientated for the everyday user, not that us modchippers are everyday users either. I might eventually get a 64-bit CPU, but right now I see no need as almost all programs are written for 32-bit CPU's.
Thats why im getting an Athlong-64 bit. it runs on a x86 core so it can still run 32 bit apps fine.
Media center wow has a few options i could care less about, and as far as a media center PC, i dont ripmyself off by buying a in box computer.
Sure, you can custom build a system, but my dad bought me this system, and with the TV Out Capabilities, I can use the remote control that comes with the computer to run it just like a DVD player or other device right on my TV, as well as surf the net on my 32 inch TV. Also have a 19 Inch Flat Screen for normal computer usage. The audio quality that the Audigy sound card outputs is awesome, gives great quality on my Klipsch speakers.
Some things you can custom build from this system, but nothing is quite like a Media Center PC, hehe sorry you're missing out necrolop. You asked for the best Windows OS, and since this is just Windows XP Pro with added stuff, and no one can personally prove 64-bit edition is any better than XP Pro, I think I winhehe
Although I would also like to have 64-Bit Windows XP, but I don't know if it would be as easy to work with as the 32-bit versions
would u say the intel itanium is better than the p4?
