Try this - Go to Start - Control Panel - Add Hardware, then follow the instructions on the wizard.

have you got a dos boot disk? if u have, try and boot with the floppy, this will tell you whether or not it's windows xp that's causing the problem, or you floppy just died which happened to be coincedental with the installation of xp. If u'r floppy is still alive, right click my computer and click properties. Click on the hardware tab then device manager and check whether or not u'r floppy and floppy controllers are listed, you mich need to reinstall the drivers for the controller which should be somewhere on the motherboard driver cd.

Let me know how u go,
    Issey
