Will they allow you to take consoles, not handhelds, as carryons on an airline?

Here's the deal, my girlfriend recently moved to Kansas and for the holidays (Christmas Holidays that is..) im gonna be flying up there to visit her. Lucky for me, my girl likes video games, namely my modded xbox. Now ive invested alot of cash into that thing and would prefer not to let it get lost or damaged as a checkin item. Would they possibly allow me to take the box on board as a carryon? I wouldnt mind giving them a demonstration at the gates to show them that its not a bomb or anything, but heres the second problem.

It cannot run without a modchip due to a little incident (Stupid ass me blanked the tsop when I was trying to add a 4 way switch to it ) and I happen to have an xbit chip (Should have went with xecuters work instead of ***..) so its got wires stickin out the back. I would be willing to take it apart for them to take a look to make sure its not a bomb or anything.. but would they try and get my ass for some kinda piracy if they see the chip? That would be some shit..

I dont know if they will let you carry it on the plain or not but

people at the airport dont know or care about modchips they are not illigall for one thing

good thing for you microsoft dose not make xray machines cuz they would not work well and it would make your modchip look like a bomb

i would be more afraid of what the x-ays will to do all the memory in your xbox.

well they will allow u to bring it on just when they xray u need to take it out. LIke how they have computers and such taken out

You mean remove it from whatever case its in when they xray, because thats my second worry. Ive heard that xrays can mess up dvds and cds and such and I wouldnt know if a harddrive would suffer the same fate. So just pull it outta the bag or whatever and show em what it is? Ill just tuck the wires inside the case. I honestly dont even use the dip switches and im not even sure where the external chip is at. >>

about two years ago, 3 months after 9/11. I came back from japan carrying my brand new PS2 in my hand luggage. No problems there, and since I do not remember having any incidents with it, probably nobody took interest in it after they x-rayed it.

My only game at the time was also there in the carry on luggage, no problems there either.

Well thats good. Its only an hour flight from here to where im goin.. and im sure that not too many others will be on the flight.. but.. I just dont trust airlines. Call me a paranoid conspiritist, but accidents happen accidently-on-purpose when expensive things are involved.

but that would be so much work...open the xbox for them, take out the chip, hdd w/e etc...i have an IDEA...pack up the xbox..and send it to her through UPS or sumthing...so buy the time u get to her house it will already be there...
