That's a rough one. I listen to all sorts of stuff. My main genre would be "electronic" I guess.
Goth/industrial type stuff... Skinny Puppy, Mentallo & The Fixer, Alien Sex Fiend, Placebo Effect, yelworC, lots of others.
Other electronica... Squarepusher, Amon Tobin, Cinematic Orchestra, Mr. Scruff, Four Tet, Bonobo, lots of others.
Jazz... Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Rebirth Brass Band, Nils Petter Molvaer, lots of others.
Rock... Alice Cooper, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, lots of others.
I'm not into rap but I like some of it. Can't stand country/western, though, unless it's Johnny Cash.
As for metal type stuff, I came up on Black Sabbath & early Ozzy. The only recent metal I listen to would be Deicide. ;)

I listen mostly to classic rock: Styx, Nazareth, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, U2, Van Halen, Peter Gabriel, Tom Cochrane, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Rolling Stones, Eagles etc. I like everything except Country and Rap. (no offense) Hey I like disco too....ya, I admit it, might as well dance.
Two words: Linkin Park.
My son likes Linkin Park too, but you can't just listen to one band all the time...come on admit some of your less cool favorites.
Rap: Bone Thugs n Harmony, Some Tupac, Some Eminem, Royce 59, NWA, Mobb Deep, Pharcyde, Rascals, Dr Dre.
HipHop: Atmosphere(slug is the best ever!), Run DMC, Benefit, The Last Emperor, Dialated Peoples, Gangstarr.
And I like Linkin Park aswell, ehe.
BUT, I hate: 50 Cent, Ludicris, Nelly, all that ****in BS sucks. Pop rap with absolutely no melody, no meaning, and no ability.
Most anything really. A lot of Tori Amos, Bjork, Emm Gryner, Green Day, Dixie Chicks, Run DMC, Rock Ranger, Nirvana, Sarah McLachlan, Counting Crows, Bee Gees, and Madonna just to name a few.
