    I just thought of this... what do you use your chips for?

    Though I'm PS2less at the moment, I use chips for imports mostly. Homebrewn stuff like emulation too, and I have backups of my TEKKEN 4 JAP and Virtua Fighter 4: EVO (can't risk damage!). I usually don't backup games though... I handle them pretty well.
