gentoo...is basically, the last free version of redhat
they have both...The only reason I want to run Linux is maybe getting use to command line stuff...and I always hear people tallking about how good it is but then I know that it's not that good...I just wanna try it atleast once so I can be in peace knowing that I've tried it once already and didn't like it....
mandrake 10 is quite good. mandrake 9 was bad. redhat used to be good.. debian is the best, but you need to be a little savvy.
download Knoppix.. it's the best livecd.. (the ones you don't even install)
oh, and the password issue.. LOL unix doesn't echo the password you type on the screenunlike windows which has the ******'s
Ohh...I see....I typed but nothing came out and I thought that was an error....ok...thank..s...i'll give that a try....I can't believe it's this hard touching Linux... It better be worth my trouble....I'm running it on a Virtual Machine tho...cause I don't to mess with my HDD too much....thanks again
LOL....linux newbs. There's a lot of nuiances that takes time to get used to.
just download knoppix. it's good if you just want to fiddle around with linux
I kindof have the same prbm. When I had sp1 and got my mini ipod, it transfered all my songs in less then 30 seconds. Then I had to erase all the songs from ipod and I already had sp2 installed in my comp. When I connected it to install the same songs, the message came up saying that It runs faster on usb2 blah blah blah. Then I went to transger songs and it took like 5 minutes....im not sure if i have usb2 or not...hm...does anybody know a name in which I can tell?
