I have a multimeter and dead CD player circuit board. the board died because of too much power from high power ac adapter. weird smell coming from area where surface mount transistor is. it looks like transistor got busted. how do i use multimeter to see if transistor dead or not. also how i measure power of transistor? i want to replace with transistor from other dead cd player or dead psx\ps2 board. help please.

I think you need a least 3 probes on your meter

They have some that hvae built in transistor checks
