build a cheap computer, install a big hard drive and linux...all u need is a tivo-app for linux. if i had a tvtuner, i'd try it out, but no money to do so. this works because tivo itself is based off of the linux OS

to me the replaytv seems to be able to do more. it can connect via ethernet card to donwload whatever it needs, u transfer things back and forth with ur comp, and a couple more things. the replaytv im considering getting is the model 5040, and the tivo im considering is the sony svr-2000. right now the replay looks better to me.

I personal like the tivos because i use directv. Although my tivo has not been altered in anyway i am planning on upgrading my drive to extend the hours. I dont know alot about the replaytv so cant really help you flynmonkeez. Here is another site that tons of info and it prob should be the first place u visit if you go with the tivos. http://www.9thtee.com/tivoupgrades.htm
    Goodluck,
