tibook hd problems! HELP

after i erased the hardrive and tried installing yellow dog linux, and made all the hardrive un allocated space, it couldn't startup even from a software install disc, and it gives me an error 11, i cant mount it as an external firewire hardrive ,i think all i need to do is partition the drive into fat32 or whatever the mac normally uses. But i can't do it!, i reseted the pram that didn't do anything.. and when i restart with powerbook restore cd's or the mac os x cd it doesn't show the hardrive its like the hardrive isn't their anymore.. But when i stick in the install disk for yellow dog linux and restart it it see's the hardrives and all the partitioning shit... PLEASE HELP
