ok im not dissagreeing with anyone im just wondering what the whole deal is when talking about hd advanced elfs.... is it because the elf its self is illegal... ( now mods sometimes when i have questioned a banned thing in the past i have gotten a hasty semi angry response) im just looking into why these arnt able to be talked about...and if it the program that makes the elf that is illegal

Long answer: HDLoader, although it SHOULD have been homebrew released..was a commercial product. It still is, as HDadvance and HDAdvance 2.0. Its a commercial product, so I think according to the admins here it falls under the same rules as any other commercial unauthorized by sony release, such as Action Replay, Swap Magic, Gameshark, etc. I may be off, but this is what I think. Perhaps G, or Dabrass can chime in with their reason as I can't speak for them, but like I said, this is just my interpretation of why.
Short answer: Cause the admins say so.

HDLoader has a slightly different reason. Its more because sony simply feels threatened by it. I do know that a number of sony employees do lurk this site from time to time and we arent going to make ourselves a target to their strongarm tactics.
Hdloader in itself has no valid copyright. Parts of the HDL code didnt even belong to sjeep in the first place including some UI work that i made with him on another project. He had no right to use it on HDL. When the whole hdloader scandal hit and the cracked version was released i actually got a bit notice from max of D1vineo saying he was preparing his lawyers to sue me for allegedly cracking or distributing HDL. Funny thing that when i told him the story behind it and threatened to post the information on the frontpage of the site he sent me another letter stating that he was sorry and only wanted to protect his investment.
Seriously, if you only knew 1/10 of what goes on in the scene, you would throw up.

You know the scene is dark because of those "investments" and money hungry guys. Of course then comes the lies and other tricks, and here we go that is the scene these days. It went wrong a decade ago back on the PC, and has never been so great (of course its my private opinion) on the console scene. And as things look like these days, things will never be the same again. It was a very big time back in the 80's being on the scene and belonging to any group, but it all lost its meaning by now, you know that time the magic words were FUN and FRIENDSHIP but nowadays its rather MONEY.
regards, Stephen
pS: still thanks to the heroes who keep places like this one too up and ones like me can have some fun here and there...
