why is my subwoofer louder when i set my reciever to stereo. when its on sorround its not as loud. and im playing a cd btw.
There are a couple of possible reasons:
1. The reciever has settings for each mode. You can change the volume of the sub for each different mode. My denon and pioneer both do this.
2. The source that you're listening to is encoded to be quieter to eliminate the noise. DVDs do this intentionally so that the sound quality is higher.
3. The reciever is set up that way intentionally so that the sub doesn't over power the rear channel or something like that.
Speculation, yes, but that's all I got.
another thing, when im listening to the radio or a cd, u can hardly hear the speakers in the back. waht settings shood i change?? and i have a sony str-de885
You aren't supposed to have surround sound when you listen to a cd or radio.
well cant i just make the sound come out from the back but not have it be true sorrounf sound?
I know I can't. I have a 600 watt system. 100 watts per channel. The stereo wattage is only 200 watts because it only comes out of the front two speakers. Maybe some systmes can????
what i did on my receiver is set it to "normal sorround" when im listenting to the radio or cd changer. you can hardly hear the sound from the sorround speakers, but there is sound coming ouot... there has to be a way to fix this. cant i somehow make them act like front left and right speakers?
FlynMonkeez, see if your stereo has a 5-Channel Stereo mode. That's what you need to use to do what you want.
Either you have like Jimmy suggest - and your amp can force twin speaker stereo to be split over more channels - or you can hook up the rear speakers in series (not in paralel as that will lower your speaker ohm by half and blow your amp channels) with the front ones... this will have an effect on the quality and power / sound level but hey you will get 4 channel stereo from a 2 channel source - just don't do this if the amp is expensive!
