Safest way to 3.61 OFW?

My cousin and I both have our own ps3's in the house (he doesn't know this) and they're both on Rebug 3.55.
But he misses PSN and wants to unhack it.
What would be the safest way to unhack it?
And would the ps3 be banned?

He should delete all the games and use "wipe history" to erase his traces...
Then update to 3.55OFW and after that go to OFW3.61/3.65 what ever you want....
I think this is the best way and as far as i know they wont ban his console or PSN acc...

Best way to get rid of the Custom Firmware is:-
1.)Make sure Multiman's LOG DELETE option is turned on, by default it is, but if you changed it, then turn it back on.
2.)Turn on Multiman and Exit it, this will delete all the logs of you using any homebrew or playing any games.
3.)Delete all the homebrew you have, all of em! REMEMBER NOT TO TURN ON ANY HOMEBREW AFTER YOU EXITED MULTIMAN, OR ELSE YOUR LOG WILL RECORD THE LAST HOMEBREW YOU RAN.
4.)Then switch back to 3.55 official firmware.
5.)Backup all your data using the BACKUP UTILITY from the settings tab in XMB, remember your TROPHIES will not be saved. They can only be saved by syncing with psn.
6.)Format the PS3's HDD, Wipe it clean!
7.)Restore all your data.
8.)Update ps3 to 3.65 fw and enjoy psn but no backups,homebrews,hacks,linux,emulators,showtime,r egion unlockers,button layout changes,DOS games,making your own homebrew with psl1ght and ofcourse MUCH MORE to come in the near future.

And thats all folks!!!
