RPG Fighting

There is something about taking turns hitting eachother that I don't get. Reminds me of how wars used to be faught, stand in a straight line and shoot at eachother. I know there are a lot of RPG freaks out there, but am I the only one out there who thinks that this is just plain stupid?

nope, I hate it too, I also can't stand when you see your sword, axe, spear etc... go right through the gut of the bad guy then you suddenly see the words "Miss" pop up. it goes straight through the guy and yet you missed? so damn anoying. I prefer games that let you fight in real time. that way if you lose it's because you actully suck not because you don't roll enough dice or whatever.

lol, so true, I'm like this to! although I do want to try to beat a simple RPG one day, just to say i did

I need to find a new game to start playing :-/

hahaha - comes from the days when PC's and Amiga's etc could not handle the graphics for real time fighting - so you take turns!

I must admit "bards tale" and a few other games like "might and magic", dragon lance series etc did keep my attention for a long time even though they were made up of taking turns - just depends on how good the story is!

And hey even new shit like final fantasy etc still use this system - comes also from controling multiple characters at once - I guess until they create a direct mind link we wont be able to play these types of games in real time!

speaking of good avatars...Look at mine again LOL.
Anyways, I hate taking turns although there is 1 good thing about it...There is no time limit. If I wanna strategize on how to beat my enemy, or what attacks I wanna do, etc...I can take all the time I want to think.
Although, they are a bit boring. I'd rather play something like Baldurs Gate, or .hack type RPG's instead of just standing there...
