Looking to increase my dvd collection...Up until this point i've really just bought or mostly traded for backups of dvd movies (but I mainly get the stuff I want to watch badly, or the newer stuff). Anyways, I was planning on starting a collecting so I borrowed a good bit off my cousin. Of course most of these are above 5GB, and I need to rip them.
My question is what program should I use? Preferrably the easiest thing to use...I've looked around and came up with a couple of programs, but they were kind of confusing (either that or the movie is being crazy).
BTW: I don't care to rip these to cd's, and especially don't want any SVCD's...Just simply want to get them small enough to fit on a dvd-r.

Thanks for the advice, but I just remembered one of my freinds use DVDXcopy...Which seems super easy to use. Now to just d/l a copy of it off Kazaa, and try it out.

While you're at it look into CloneDVD from elby (former owners of CloneCD). You can D/L the 30-day trial and find a key for it out there. It keeps all the menus intact and you can use it to strip unwanted titles, languages, subtitles, previews, etc. The latest release shows a quality meter and fixed a bug where the dropped titles were dummied gray-screen images and truly drops the title from the ifo now. Total re-encrytion time for a full DVD is about 38 minutes on a 2GHz system.

This thing is completely self-contained, except it won't RPC-free, demacro, or decss (use DVDDecrypter to rip it to HD first). It will burn directly to DVD, create an ISO image on your hard drive, or you can put the Video_TS on your drive to preview it before burning, then do a direct burn to DVD when you are satisfied with the results. I often put it directly on RW to test it in my players around the house first--it will quick erase a used RW before burning to it.

Even at the retail $49 for the key, it's a gem of a deal compared to $99 retail for Xcopy.

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.

Nah, Raistlin you don't have to pay anything if you know where to get stuff...Just go on Kazaa, search for the program, and find one with a crack or something in it.

I find Instant Copy 8 to be quite good. Quality seems a little better than Clonedvd.

I just used DVDShrink for a dvd movie. You can take certain titles you want out...Basically, if you want you can get the movie down to the bone (only the movie, and the credits), or you can add all those annoying other things, But there isn't enough room for all of that stuff.
