RIP Hunter S. Thompson
RIP Hunter S. Thompson –
HST has killed himself tonight at his Aspen home. He was 67 and wrote many classic books and was a sports writer as well. He was eccentric, he abused drugs for many years, he was a bizarre man. He talked about suicide for a long time and he finally went through with it. I hate the fact that he went out this way but I will never think any less of his brilliant writings. Thompson's ability to draw me in and make me feel like I am where he describes is what made me want to be a writer. RIP Hunter S. Thompson, you're gone but your fans will never forget you.
That sucks. "Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas" was just on the other night and I watched part of it.
I'm watching it tonight as..I can't possibly give a fitting tribute by reading as much of his work as I was capable of, but I can spare a few hours for this movie. Next weekend will be my Thompson book weekend. Hard to believe he's gone, I'm sad I never got a chance to meet him to tell him how much his writing not only entertained but also inspired me.
