I attempted installation of Mandrake 9.0 on my old computer. However, that stupid Internet Explorer FTP client must have downloaded the ISO's in ASCII format and not BINARY, which corrupted the rpm files. I'm actually glad it failed though, because I have two hard drives, and I installed it on the second hard drive, which only had 1.6 GB on it when I got it, the guy sold it to me at a 1.6 GB price. The format that Mandrake did wasn't recognized by Windows, so I needed to download a partition manager in order to wipe the drive clean and format it as FAT32 so my Windows XP Pro could work with it. I downloaded Parasoft Partition Manager 5, and when I checked the partitions, I figured out the drive was 3 GB rather than 1.6 GB . So I reformatted it, and I will redownload the ISO's using WS_FTP in BINARY and try again.
By the way, does anyone know who to use the MD5 checksums on Windows XP Pro? I downloaded the md5sum.exe file from etree.org or sumthin, but I don't know how to use this in order to check that the rpm's are stable. Thanks guys!
