GC Chip is under development by the Origa brothers... Exclusive video of a homebrew dvd-r load on a gamecube on www.gcdemos.com ... Many of you will probably say this is BS and such but this has already been discussed and everyone knows it's real. The original man to hack the Gamecube with "PSOLoad" has even taken and interest and begun working with them. Other homebrew hardware developers are also trying to help out.
Some of you may remember Titanchip released images of a gc chip under development around this time last year. However, that project was later cancelled due to the fact that they couldn't find an efficient ripping/loading solution. The Origa Brothers, a part of Titanchip, resumed the work early this year. One of the brothers contacted me about 4 weeks ago before the new chip went public with live webcam images and information regarding the chip. They went public about 1.5 weeks ago now. Yesterday was a very big step with homebrew dvd-r loading on the cube. If you notice the writing on the disc in the video mentions Costis. Costis made PSOLoad and altered that demo for Origa yesterday
If you need to know anymore info regarding this please ask but I was just thinking seeing as there's an empty Gamecube section you'd might aswell add a modchip discussion forum.
*Edit* Almost forgot - http://gcc.modchip.sm/ - the chip's site!
that is craazzay! im lookin all over for the pics, i also hope this is real. i have a gamecube i dont use and i want to get it modded just for the hell of it. wasn't liksang on the verge of creating a modchip when they were shut down? were anyone else close to making the chip? i read that this chip supposidly is 21 wires, wow that's really impressive (if its true)
I have a question - if you DID install a modchip, how do you get around the fact that the GC has a reverse-spinning Mini-DVD drive?
I had a gamer friend at work describe reversing the polarity on a DVD burner to write the DVD backwards. Would the modchip reverse the spin of the GC? I ain't very knowledgeable about the GC scene, so forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere.
I don't have a GC, but I have a friend that does, and man! The playability of those games SMOKE the xbox and ps2 alot of times.
we can get the disk info on the pc, we can burn dvds, we cant copy the dvd dirrectly from inside the pc dvd drive. sound familar? thats what u do with the xbox! it also has a reverse spinning disk, and u rip the disk over ethernet, like the cube
IT DOESNT SPIN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FFS!!!! Sick of that rumor!!!
The GC Disc is a proprietary format, not much different from that of a DVD, but significant enough of a difference that a GC Disc cannot be read in a PC DVD Drive. There is copy-protection on the GC Discs through its barcode and internal disc information. For a start when it loads it examines the outside rings, then the middle, then looks for a barcode. One last thing, we can't burn GC Discs properly. That's the problem the Origa Brothers have hit right now. If you look at the website i linked to in my first post you'll see a picture of a dvd-rw drive hacked to pieces and it still doesn't burn 6bytes correctly, which is the difference between loading a copy and not. However, homebrew discs can be run perfectly right now!
damn that sucks

i remember liksang almost finishing a gamecube mod when they were raided. how was that mod different, what was it supposed to do? it might of not been liksang but i thought they had something to do with it.. this is all from my memory, and may not be true
I wouldnt mind bringing the gamecube section back. i just love all sorts of little modding to that console.
