Agreed. You also don't have the extra expense of having the player pre-loaded in the systray. Those buggers can eat up 3-5% of system resources. That can cause problems on an already burdened machine. Windows MP is a built-in extension of MSIE, so it snaps to quickly. Just wish it did a better job with DivX and vob's. Those codecs were an improvement, but still a joke.

Oh, and I would look into maybe an earlier version of the Microsoft video encoder if it's still available. Not everyone has moved to DirectX9 and Media Player9. The majority are still on version 8.xx. It amazes me how many people don't upgrade their video drivers and such unless they are putting in new hardware or a new game.....
I had gone to v9, but my GF4 didn't do much with it and it caused weird things with some games, so I stripped it back to 8.1. I imagine I'm not the only one who ran into this, considering how many times the DirectX removers have been downloaded.
If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.
