Questions for fellow members of the PSX-SCENE (Need Different Opinions)

Okay I need some different opinions from different users I am a pretty simple guy when it comes to my ps3 but some of the questions have me "wonder a bit" anyways here it goes. (Please Take NO Offense to my questions.)

1. Why do some people buy internal HD's over 500gb -1tb for PS3 games that "most likely they will never/play or complete"?

2. Why do some people care about game covers on multiman when the whole purpose is playing a game not to make it look pretty?

3. How many ps3 games do you play that you "actually" complete or do you just go to another game and do the same thing?

4. Are you overall satisfied with your PS3 as a whole. If you could change one thing about your ps3 what would it be.

5. How often do you play your ps3 (Hours per day)

My Answers

1. I decided to keep my external 80gb HD that haves 65 gb left I try to complete the games I have on there before putting newer ones on. Besides I own alot of (REAL) PS3 games so my gaming taste varies. Since my ps3 is dualbooted, MY CFW part of my PS3 haves a 250gb hd with 80gb left and my OFW part of my ps3 is 80gb with 60gb left.

2. I think it's kinda cool having game covers but I dont care for them I just see them for 3 seconds before I play my game. Besides I only use multiman for the file manager I mainly use open manger. (Never had a problem with any games)

3.Currently I stopped playing Star Ocean 4. I am playing Grand Theft Auto Lost and the Dammed and Getting into the Renaissance series but I am almost compete with beating the darkness 2. I play WWE 12 mostly and on my Online PS3 I play MW3 alot and BF3 sometimes. (Looking VERY FORWARD to blackops 2)

4. I wanna say yes because ever since I dual booted my ps3 I have the best of both worlds but if one thing I can change. I would like my ps3 to play ps2 backups but my ps3 is non backward compatible

5. Depends on my mood mostly I probably play offline 1.5-3 hours online 3.5-4 hours. I cant really call myself a hard core gamer if the game is REALLY GOOD I may play for over 4 hours but that is really rare

Not sure if it will work with your model but awhile back someone made an ISO of OPL and reported it working with non BC PS3
This has not been tested by me mostly because I use a real PS2 for PS2 figured let you know

1. Simply, I didn't want to have to worry about hard drive space which is funny because right at the moment I'm deleting some games that looked good at the time but turned out to be giant turds because I hit the limit on my 1TB internal, 1 TB external, and another 140 gig external

2. Probably gonna sound like an ass, but the school systems today haven't taught most people how to read and write so the pictures are very useful to them. But for me, it's just a coat of paint

3. For a long time I was doing the collecting thing because I can't stand having dead space on a hard drive that I can fill with something cool but lately I've actually been going back to complete start to finish some of my games. In the last month I've beaten FFXIII, FFXIII-2, Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City. I beat Arkham City 2 days ago - those perfect 10 scores all over the place are very well deserved by the way. Got all the Riddler trophies and did all the side quests. Kind of got annoyed with the DLC content (Robin, Nightwing, etc) because they merged the different playing modes into campaigns. I would have rather that they did the predator and combat missions separately because it just seemed awkward to jump around in between them and have your score dependent on the other. Not only that, but I assumed after beating the game you could use Robin and Nightwing in the main city area like you can with Catwoman, but was sadly disappointed on that. The Riddler challenges for them just seemed tacked on as an after thought. Sorry, had to go on a rant about that.

4. Personally, I love mine. I would like to see a cheat system like the old game shark, action replay, or CWCHEAT. I know a lot of people are against it, but I just don't have the time to sit and farm for gold or stats to progress a story like I did when I was a kid. I'm just in it for the storyline these days. I don't play online either and don't condone online cheating, but I'm all for taking the grind out of games. And the save game hacks and swapping between users is just sad. The hacks are too few and far between and when they do work, they over do it. There's no real customization like being able to give yourself a 5 level boost or 10,000 cash for that must have weapon so you don't have to backtrack for an hour to get it when you do have the cash. They gotta put you in near god level which ruins the point of playing to start with. And the user swapping of savegames is worse. Most of them are saved at the end of the game which you gotta ask yourself "WHY BOTHER????"

And another thing, all the bitching and moaning about what's free, what's not, what should be free, why isn't this game patched yet, this is pointless, this is stupid, the scene is dead, etc, etc, etc, and it's always by the people that have done absolutely jack shit to pitch in or help somebody when they're stuck even tho they know the answer and it would only take them 20 seconds to help them out instead of letting them spend hours trying to figure it out on their own. Oh, and how ungrateful these people are kills me. There's been some great stuff done for us but they can't seem to see past their own needs at the moment. It's like the 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum in the candy store because they can't have that lollipop even tho you just took the little SOB to Busch Gardens, the zoo, and just left the ice cream store.

5. I've been using Showtime a lot lately, so about 2 or 3 hours with that and maybe an hour or two a day playing a game unless it's really good and I get hooked. Then I might play til the sun comes up without even realizing it.


Damn, I gotta be in a foul mood today - how many rants was that? And the sad thing is I wasn't even done yet. Had to stop myself and take a deep breath. Anyways, always a good read

1. i have a 750gb i think and a 1.5tb external both because i have backed up all my originals to save the kids scratching my discs i also have a couple of ofw 60gb's and 160gb consoles for my online gaming

2. i think i would have to agree with BahumatLord on that 1 but i also like the covers there to make it easier for my 6year old who has learning difficulties

3. a few of the games i own i started to play but then got something new and moved on to that 1 and so on but i always go back and complete them i bought sniper elite v2 friday afternoon and completed it by the night time

4. im not sure on this 1 im looking into doin a led light mod and spray painting my ps3 instead of the boring black although i just bought another 60gb which is pink for my girls

5. well as you can see from my answer in Q3 alot lol when i buy a new game i like to complete it it just gets me down when i pay all that money just to complete it the same day but hey i guess thats my fault but im a dedicated gamer lol

1. I have a 1 TB internal HDD. I copy ALL of my games to it so that I don't have to carry around a big case of blu ray discs when I take my PS3 places (I travel quite a bit.)

3. I hardly finish games anymore. They are just too long with too much to do and they get boring pretty quick.

4. I love my PS3. Or I guess I should say PS3's. I have one CECHA01 on 4.11 OFW and one CECHL01 on 3.55 CFW. If I could change one thing about it, I would want to dual boot my backward compatible PS3. Trying to decide whether to keep my OFW or CFW PS3 is a hard choice sometimes.

which mini rant would that be? I went on several of them last night. Been having trouble sleeping and I guess it's been getting to me. And I'm not sorry about what went down on that other site. After reading page after page of that nonsense I had to say it and I stand by it. I don't want to get it started again but to me it was pretty pathetic

But yeah, I'd love a cheat loader like game shark or codebreaker. I don't understand why it hasn't been done yet. It's not something I'm capable of doing and I know the PS3 has limited memory, but even if you just had to do a simple memory search and replace function couldn't it be loaded in the last section of memory so it didn't trip up the games and you can pull up the menu with a key combo?

But I will agree with you on some things that you had said.
I mean quite frankly, there are TOO MANY games to keep people busy and happy with their ps3 system. I myself have some games that I am currently playing. I havent even played any of the "newer games" I'm still playing my old games and I am happy with it. It's just I know people care about games working (legally or illegally) on their jailbroken ps3. But there gotta be a fine line that says enough is enough just be CONTENT with the games that you have that will "most likely" they will never finish.

Also I do agree with you on the leveling up/farming gahhhh too much time spent leveling up I just get bored and stop playing (Star Ocean 4) I am level 58 and my top guy is level 63 and the boss I have to be at-least level 75 :/ I an already got like 43 hours in.

I mean there are open solutions like the E3/Progskeet/TB/Cobra I mean too many but if you have to "come out of the pocket" then they wanna shame those people lol Some people you just cant satisfy

@RandQalan I have a softmodded PS2 that I play my ps2 games on.
IMO I find some of the ps2 games/series better than the current ps3 games. PS2 games tend to have more length and more in depth to them instead of a PS3 game that only last for 8-12 hours (12-20) IF YOU ARE LUCKY (not talking about RPG games ofcourse) NOT trying to say that the ps3 games are bad but "Most" of them are all graphic but lacks a real storyline and gameplay.

Yea that is why I have played PS2 more then my PS3 most games have something more then most game on PS3
