It's a dumbass way of saying owned. My opionion: Leet (1337) is the dumbest thing anyone every came up with. Lol rofl imo lmao and all them other acronyms are much better internet lingo than leet (spelling words with different characters of text then what is correct or the intentionally mispellings of words i.e. pwned or haxor). But when someone does use it you can be certain that they are no more than 14 years of age and have recently got the internet.
the word "pwned" evolved out of a common typo of the word "owned". it became so common to accidently hit "p" instead of "o" that people began to do it intentionally for no other reason other than being satirical. so technically you do pronounce it "owned".
1. pwn
PWN (verb)
1. An act of dominating an opponent.
2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects.
Originally dates back to the days of WarCraft, when a map designer mispelled "Own" as "Pwn". What was originally supose to be "player has been owned." was "player has been pwned".
Pwn eventually grew from there and is now used throughout the online world, especially in online games.
1. "I pwn these guys on battlenet"
2. "This strategy pwns!" or "This game pwn."
