PS2 HDD Capabilities

once the hdd comes out will the ps2 be able to do everything the xbox can. like have a media player to play avi's and mp3s and stuff like that

doubt it will be as versatile as X-box, because the XBox is easier to write homemade programs for because it is a x86 computer like a PC, to where PS2 is a MIPS computer, which is harder to make stuff for. plus the PS2 gaming HDD is encrypted, making it harder to access than the XBox's. just my thoughts.

It was supposed to come out November 2001 in the US. PS2 is too old , its been out in Japan and done marginal, its too late for it here. they possibly could release it, but I doubt much will be made of it. Its sad sony didnt get their act together for this one.

The XBox hd was encrypted also; only takes time to crack the encryption.

yes but it was still pretty close to NTFS, a common PC format.

if they havent said if it would be released, then how can they have said if it will have whatever features

what features do you expect? its a big memory card
