I don't have a PS3 controller to test it with, but I don't think it's possible. First of all, they both use differnet type of connectors. The PS3 uses USB and the PS2 uses it's own custom connection plug. Also, after doing some basic searching in google, the PS3 controller uses blue-tooth, which the PS2 definitely doesn't support. So even if you made a PS2 plug to USB adapter, I don't think it would work.

You cant use a PS3 controller on a PS2, but you can use a PS2 controller on a PS3. You can find converters plentiful on google for those.
You didnt give a link to the video, so we dont know what that PS3 controller is being use on. It could be a 'shell' someone modified with the PS2 controller 'guts' for all anyone knows.

Well this is the link for the video:

It says he uses a dualshock 3 controller.

Thats one of those multi-console controllers, labeled as dual Shock 3, but its not an authentic DUALSHOCKŪ3 Wireless Controller.
Its a "PS2" controller with adapters/convertors to use in a PS3 and PC, but it is not a "PS3" Controller.

Looks better than the official wireless Katana accessories one what with the proper separated d-pad
