I just took my dreamcast out of the closet after a long hot summer and ive noticed that many of my cdr backups will not work. Ive tried to clean the lens with rubbing alchol and a cotton swab but no improvement. My dreamcast seems to make alot of noises while trying to boot a cdr game, sometimes it sounds like the laser is moving rapidly back and fourth. Is there something I can do? How about adjusting the laser to improve the slow to no booting and stop the noises? Does anyone know what values I should adjust it to? Also my origionals seem to work fine. I can try to make a recording of these weird sounds comin from my dreamcast if anyone wants.

Maybe the heat affected the cd-r's. Have you tried reburning any and seeing if they work?

It's the CDR's. Definately. I also tried taking my Dreamcast out for a spin lately and my backups didn't work. I just reburned the games I wanted to play and it worked without a hitch. I think leaving them there for too long in the heat caused it. Also I didn't put them in a CD wallet. Just left them lying there. Very irresponsible :P

It's really crazy how cd-r's work...They work fine for me when I first get em...Then one day i'll be like "Well, shit...I should play that game again" and sometimes the damn thing won't work! Just reburn them again, and they work fine...That's probaly your problem...
